The weaving from the isle of Taquile, in the middle of Lake Titicaca, is very
distinctive. One can find Coca bags and ribbons that are woven on a simple
weaving loom. The men are constantly knitting and their knitwork is easy
to recognize. The dominant colour is dark red, also some dark blue, almost
black, and unbleached white. To accentuate these coulours they use vibrant
supporting coulours. Men and boys knit hats that are called 'chulo', 'yuchu' of
'chullu'.
