It was 1996 and I searched for marked linen, and in my search I discovered an unusual long (80 cm x 200 cm) linen cloth, displaying the monogram of the owner. I bought it out of curiosity. It turned out to be an ornamented damask jacquard woven mangle cloth. Still later I found another one. Their beautiful designed motifs fascinated me. As my collection grew, I wanted to know more about their history. The result: a booklet that I published in 2003. "Wash and mangle smoothly or I'll spank your bum" (in translation) is the first publication in Dutch on mangling and mangle cloths.
